Istanbul is a marvellous location to visit for many reasons but for a visitor from “Nanny state”, “Photophobic” Britain one of the most striking differences is that people actually seem to enjoy being photographed.
That was certainly the case with this gentleman and his fine collection of springs. He took the time to show me the different types even though he must have known that I had no intention of buying.
I took a number of frames but feel that this was the best, it somehow captures the moment. I like the composition and the detail in the metal springs. The labels and numbers behind him also add interest as does the way his cigarette is hanging.
If I could change something it would be the sign in the window it’s a little distracting. due to the reflections it would be difficult to remove in Photoshop.
The image was processed first in Lightroom and then Silver Efex Pro 2.
