The Express and Star needs your support.

The Express and Star is a very well know newspaper that is still very successful in the black country and surrounding areas.

Today, along with other students and staff from Dudley college’s photography BTEC, I was lucky enough to be allowed to visit the photo archives. These comprise of around a million photographs, some dating back over one hundred years. Of those around three quarters are copyright of the newspaper.

There is a campaign to digitise the entire archive with help from the heritage lottery fund. The process is estimated to take a team of volunteers around three years to complete and would safeguard this treasure for future generations to enjoy. It’s a very worthy project.

Brand and communications manager, Chris Leggett gave us a wonderful talk, tour and was happy to answer any questions thrown at him.

I urge you to support the campaign by following the links below.

Thanks for the support, Ian. It's great to hear that visiting the archive was worthwhile. We got a lot from hosting the visit, too.
